About Us
We started Luminary Parenting after years of working with parents and children as occupational therapists in paediatric and adult mental health settings. We noticed that parents are bombarded with information and expectations, with little time to process it as they have to rush to the next thing in their fast-paced lifestyle. At the end of busy days that may feel like spinning on the hamster wheel, many parents feel insecure, guilty, alone and unsupported. Many children are struggling to keep up with school performance and the never-ending expectations after school, resulting in behavioural outbursts, poor focus, and screentime addiction.
We have sat in so many sessions with tired, desperate parents telling us, “I’m trying my best but it doesn’t seem to be working. I have no idea what I’m doing. I wish there was a manual!”
As we worked with these families, we became convinced that every parent needs to be supported.
This is why we started Luminary Parenting. Our mission is to cut through the noise, providing you with clear, actionable parenting advice to transform busyness into connection and confusion into clarity. We want to see calm, confident parents who are able to manage modern-day stressors, parent with confidence, and forge deep connections with their children. We believe that this will result not only in thriving, resilient children who grow up to be confident adults, but also in happy parents who are able to enjoy their parenting journey.
We invite you to step into this journey with us. You are the guiding light for your children and we are here to support you – with evidence-based and easy-to-apply courses, with real-time support, and with a community of other parents striving to be the best parents they can be for their children.
Our founders

My name is Carla Jones. I am an occupational therapist working in the pediatric field. After graduating I began my occupational therapy career at a school for children with special educational needs, which deepened my understanding of complex developmental challenges. Currently, I work in a hybrid role that combines private practice and school-based therapy, allowing me to support children in their learning environment but also address challenges they experience outside of their school day. Each day I partner closely with parents and caregivers, and I’ve come to see just how vital it is for them to be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to support their children’s growth beyond therapy sessions. My mission is not only to serve the child but to empower the whole family.
My name is Amy Poliah. I started my occupational therapy career working at a school, addressing learning challenges, behavioural concerns and developmental delays. I quickly realized that the only effective way to treat children is to work with their parents. After some time, I transitioned in my clinical practice to work at an adult mental health facility. Many of the adults that I worked with there were healing from traumas, hurts and unrealistic expectations that had happened due to how they were parented. This reinforced to me that supporting parents is of the utmost importance – not just for children to thrive now, but for them to be able to grow into confident and thriving adults. My passion is to equip parents with the tools – so that you can be the guiding lighthouse that your child desperately needs.
